WRITER / DIRECTOR / PERFORMER (Ecuador - New York)
Fernando Vieira is an Ecuadorian-born New York-based writer, director, and performer. Writing works include mystery short stories, screenplays, and stage plays. Vieira debuted as a stage writer and director with the Spanish-language monologue “Me voy porque puedo” in 2016.
“Goodbye, Little George” (2020) was Vieira’s first English-language play. Directing credits include the queer comedy “Los nutcrackers: a christmas carajo” at BAAD! In 2018 and 2019 and the “48 Hours in…El Bronx” production by Harlem9 and Pregones/Puerto Rican Traveling Theater (2018-2021). Recent works are the short documentary “Unlabeled” (2020) and the plays “Anormales” (2020) and “Cecilia”(2021). Awards/Recognition includes two LATIN ACE awards and being selected as part of artistic cohorts at NYFA, Creative Capital, and Leslie-Lohman Museum.
